Job Summary:

The macro level intern provides assistance in areas of policy practice, community engagement, advocacy, leadership development, interprofessional collaboration, social justice, systems thinking, and organizational practice. The position helps build organizational capacity around policy, advocacy, and community engagement while investing in the development of a future social work leader. Essential duties:
· Organizational Culture:
Advance agency culture to ensure sustainability and operationalization of agency values, trauma informed care principles, "progress not perfection" and courageous leadership.
· Advocacy:
Assist in developing an advocacy plan and operationalizing the plan. Conduct research on state and national child mental health advocacy organizations to join.
· Advocacy:
Assist in creating a plan incorporating youth with lived experience into agency feedback loops and agency planning.
· Advocacy:
Monitor local government agendas and identifying issues related to children's mental health, behavioral health access, trauma-informed care, and family well-being.
· Advocacy:
Assisting in the development of recommendations that elevate children's mental health priorities within community and governmental discussions.
· Community Collaboration Development:
Assist in developing the West Texas Trauma Informed Care Consortium.
· Community Collaboration Development:
Participating in community coalitions and interdisciplinary partnerships.
· Conduct research and data analysis to inform program design, grant proposals, and policy recommendations.
· Assist in developing and evaluating community-based initiatives, ensuring they align with evidence-based practices and community needs.
· Support advocacy efforts by preparing policy briefs, fact sheets, and presentations for stakeholders and decision-makers.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including program managers, community leaders, and partner organizations.
· Participate in coalition meetings, public forums, and legislative sessions to represent the organization's mission and priorities.
· Assist in grant writing and reporting to secure and maintain funding for key initiatives and in creating a fund development plan.

Qualifications:

·

Required:

bachelor's degree in social science or related degree; enrollment in an accredited MSW program with a macro or community practice concentration.
· Preference: in pursuit of master's degree; has lived experience
· Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights. Familiarity with social policy, community organizing, or nonprofit program development. Comfort working with diverse communities and stakeholders. A collaborative spirit, adaptability, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
