The Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for providing clinical oversight of Associate care, treatment and follow-up services. Assists in coordinating Associate patient care including, management of on-the-job injury care, administration of hospital-wide immunizations programs, delivery of patient education, and coordination of leaves of absence. Provides nursing services to Associates, utilizing components of the nursing process, including assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Incorporates professional nursing knowledge to prove age-appropriate based on scientific principles, established nursing standards of practice, and standards of care for specific patient populations.
Three years of clinical nursing experience required. Experience managing work-related injuries and return-to-work processes. Familiarity with workers’ compensation and employee health regulations, immunizations, health screenings, and employee education. Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills required.
License/Registration/CertificationRegistered Nurse licensed in the State of Texas.
Current BLS required.
Education and TrainingBachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Skills- Knowledge of occupational health nursing principles and workplace safety standards.
- Understanding of workers’ compensation, ADA, FMLA, and return-to-work processes.
- Knowledge of infection prevention, immunization protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Strong clinical assessment and triage skills.
- Ability to manage on-the-job injuries and provide appropriate treatment and follow-up.
- Case management and care coordination expertise.
- Proficiency in documentation and electronic health records (EHR).
- Effective education and health counseling skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Critical thinking and sound clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Skill in analyzing workplace injury trends and recommending prevention strategies.
- Ability to develop and support wellness and health promotion initiatives.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, HR, and interdisciplinary teams.
