Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The LVN staff nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare and the Texas Board of Nursing. In collaboration with the patient, the patient’s family and other members of the health care team, the clinical LVN works under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the delivery of patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing focused nursing care for patients with complex needs by administering medications, managing lines or drains, and assisting with interventions like cardiac monitoring or respiratory support

  • Closely observing patients for subtle changes in status — including shifts in heart rhythm, oxygen levels, or neurological signs — and escalating concerns quickly to support early intervention

  • Documenting timely, accurate updates that help the care team coordinate effectively in a high-acuity environment

  • Helping patients and families understand complex conditions and recovery steps with clarity and comfort

  • Working closely with RNs, providers, and specialists to stabilize patients and guide them through the transition from intensive care toward recovery

What qualifications you will need:

REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION

  • LVN licensed in state of Texas or Compact State

  • BCLS certified.

REQUIRED

EDUCATION:

  • Completion of LVN program

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Preferred experience as LVN 1-2 years Med-Surg.

  • Specialty certification/training as appropriate.

  • Read and write Basic English with the basic skills necessary to understand and transfer physician’s orders.

  • Ability to move an excess of 100 pounds, with assistance from other staff.

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Computer skills.

  • Ability to work as a team member within a team to ensure quality patient care.
