Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN will direct and coordinate all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. The RN collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

The RN supports the organization’s vision and mission, utilizes knowledge of patient’s developmental age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient and family‑centered care, and contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Work Experience:

    Full Time – None required;
    Part Time, PRN, Contract, and Travelers – at least one year of experience required.
  • License/Registration:
    Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Texas or Compact Licensure.
  • Certification Requirements:
    • Upon Hire: RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, APHON, TNCC, ENPC.
    • Within 6 months – additional unit‑specific certifications (e.g., PICU, Pediatrics, IMCU, Hematology/Oncology, NICU, Perioperative Services, Emergency Dept., Float Pool, Transport, Nurse Imaging, Multispecialty Center).
    • Within 12 months – additional unit‑specific certifications where applicable.
    • Within 18 months – additional unit‑specific certifications where applicable.
    • Float Pool: ACLS and PALS are required upon hire.
    • Emergency Department:
      In addition to above, NRP is required within 12 months and STABLE within 18 months.
  • Education:

    Associate degree in Nursing required.
  • Skills:
    • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
    • Ability to use computers for documentation.
    • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
