Registered Nurse – Full Time – Night Shift – El Paso Children’s Hospital – El Paso, TX
ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization’s vision and mission.
Utilizes knowledge of patient’s developmental age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient and family-centered care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Position Requirements
- Full Time – No prior experience required.
- Part‑time, PRN, Contract, and Travelers – At least one year of experience required.
- Float Pool, Transport, Nurse Imaging, and Multispecialty Center – At least one year of experience (regardless of work status).
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or Compact Licensure.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Required upon hire: RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS.
- Note:
For Float Pool, ACLS and PALS are required upon hire. - For Emergency Department RNs, NRP is required within 12 months and STABLE within 18 months.

- Ongoing certifications (time frames vary by role):
- RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, APHON, TNCC, ENPC.
- Detailed timelines are provided for specific departments but a general expectation is:
Obtain RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS upon hire and NRP and STABLE within 12–18 months where applicable.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
- Proficiency in computers for documentation purposes.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of patient’s developmental age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient and family‑centered care.
- Experience with and commitment to performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
All nurses must hold a valid license and meet all applicable state and hospital policies and procedures regarding clinical practice and ongoing education.
