This role provides direct clinical patient care. It assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients per shift, and at unit level. The role supervises staff as needed and supports the CNO to ensure high quality, safe nursing care, staff competency, and appropriate resource management.

• The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective total nursing care to all patients.
• Assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process.
• Directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and infection control, aiming to discharge the patient optimally.
• Coordinates and plans patient care within prescribed medical regimes.
• Administers all medications safely and timely per hospital policy.
• Performs all HICS responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed during emergencies.
• Knows the hospital’s emergency codes, their purpose and appropriate action, and adheres to policies.

• Required:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred:
  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.

• Required:
  
  1 year of RN experience for PRN status.
• Preferred:
  Recent acute care experience.

• Required:
  
  Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law, regulation, state of practice or policy; AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
