Registered Nurse Surgery

Registered Nurse – Surgery is requested for a full‑service hospital located in El Paso, TX. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality peri‑operative nursing care in the operating room and through patient postoperative care.

• Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for predictable schedule.
• Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff.
• Continuous investment in equipment for patient safety and workflow efficiency.
• Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses.
• On‑call duties during selected non‑business hours.

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education regarding the procedure and peri‑operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, pre‑operative medications, and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, including providers, surgeons and surgical technologists.
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently.
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout the shift, and document changes thoroughly.
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow‑up measures.

• Registered Nurse with a current RN license.
• Associate degree in nursing (RN). 1 year of experience required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of employment start date.
• No travel required.
