Salary Range: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour.
We are seeking a Double‑Weekend Certified Medication Aide to join our nursing team. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the safe and accurate administration of medications to residents under the supervision of physicians, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. The role must adhere to state regulations, facility policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
Responsibilities- Follow all facility policies and procedures related to medication administration.
- Document and notify any medication errors, including those involving drug receipt or administration.
- Assist in developing and implementing medication error prevention strategies.
- Complete required administrative tasks such as forms, charts, and reports.
- Maintain a professional relationship with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and residents.
- Report resident complaints or grievances to the Director of Nursing Services.
- Participate in facility inspections and quality‑assurance committees.
- Ensure confidentiality of resident information and report any breaches.
- Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document oral or topical medications.
- Verify identity of residents and examine medications brought in by new residents.
- Follow labeling policies and ensure medications are properly marked.
- Assist with medication charting and the removal of discontinued medications.
- Follow procedures for drug receipt errors, including ordering resupply and documenting incidents.
- Measure, record, and report vital signs in a timely manner.
- Observe medication administration, verify ingestion or application, and report refusals.
- Notify the charge nurse, nurse supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services promptly about medication errors or adverse reactions.
- Ensure that no medication is administered without a written, signed order from an attending licensed physician.
- Record medication orders in the resident’s clinical record accurately.
- Follow procedures that allow residents to self‑administer medications and document the process.
- Follow established guidelines for drug storage and for the disposal of expired or unwanted medications.
- Participate in resident assessment and care‑plan meetings as required.
- Assist in maintaining secure computer workstations and report any unauthorized access attempts.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Licensed Certified Medication Aide with completed state‑approved training and exam.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Knowledge and skills necessary for age‑related resident care.
- Demonstrated teamwork and supportive work ethic.
- Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
- Skillful interaction with personnel, residents, families, and government agencies.
- Willingness to collaborate harmoniously with all staff.
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm for handling challenging residents.
- Ability to communicate resident‑condition information accurately.
- Documentation of certification required upon application.
- No direct threat to safety or health of others in the workplace.
- Capability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift 25lb. to a height of 5ft and to move or carry that weight a minimum of 50ft.
- Proficiency in speaking and writing that allows clear communication.
- Capacity to cope with the mental and emotional demands of the position.
- Adequate vision and hearing, or use of prosthetics, to meet job requirements.
