Job Overview

We are seeking a licensed Certified Medication Aide to work double weekend shifts, assisting with the administration of medications to residents in accordance with facility policies and state regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Administer medications as ordered by attending physicians, nurses or the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Verify medication orders, labels, and resident identity before administration.
  • Prepare, document, and chart medications accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper labeling, storage, and disposal of medications, including those that are discontinued or returned.
  • Monitor residents for medication reactions and report errors or adverse events to the charge nurse, nurse supervisor, or Director of Nursing Services.
  • Assist with the medication charting process and follow facility procedures for charting and documentation.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs, pharmaceutical committees, and other facility committees related to medication processes.
  • Attend care plan meetings and education sessions as needed.
  • Report incidents of fraud, unauthorized disclosures, or potential health risks to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain confidential resident information and uphold HIPAA and other privacy regulations.
  • Support residents in self‑administration of medications and report any failures or compliance issues.
Qualifications

Must be a licensed Certified Medication Aide who has completed a state‑approved training program and is in good standing with any required certifications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Knowledge of medication administration standards, facility policies, and state regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation.
  • Ability to handle potentially stressful or hostile interactions with residents, families, and staff.
  • Capacity to work independently and make decisions when necessary.
  • Commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions

Work will occur in office areas and throughout nursing service areas, including drug rooms, nurses' stations, and resident rooms. The position requires intermittent movement, frequent interruptions, and may involve exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious waste, as well as hazardous chemicals. Employees may be required to work beyond normal hours, during weekends, and in emergency or disaster situations.

Physical & Sensory Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry at least 25 pounds to a height of 5 feet and move or carry similar weight a distance of 50 feet. Employees must also be able to speak in English, see and hear or use additional aids as required, and manage mental and emotional stress associated with patient care responsibilities.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed Certified Medication Aide with current certification.
  • Experience in medication administration preferred; training to be provided.
Other Requirements
  • Demonstrated patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition when dealing with residents and staff.
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education and in‑service training (OSHA, TB, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Ability to comply with all safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and to reporting unauthorized disclosures.
