The RN Resident coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with department requirements and state and specialty standards. In collaboration with medical providers and the care team, the RN Resident provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. The RN Resident advocates for patients, families and caregivers to support an exceptional patient experience.
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical providers. Document care in the patient record promptly and thoroughly.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and intervene as needed for any unintended effects.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to resolve them proactively.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications and side effects, and follow-up measures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the state
- No previous experience required
- Some travel may be needed for training
Las Palmas Medical Center is a 300+ bed, full-service hospital in El Paso. It is home to the region’s only kidney transplant center and offers emergency care with a Level III trauma center, along with cardiac care, women’s services, pediatric care and NICU, cancer care, and more. The center is part of Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare within HCA Healthcare.
