Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization’s vision and mission.
Utilizes knowledge of patient’s developmental age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient and family‑centered care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.
Minimum Position Requirements
- Full Time – No experience required.
- Part‑time, PRN, Contract, and Travelers – at least one year of experience required.
- Float Pool, Transport, Nurse Imaging, and Multispecialty Center (regardless of work status) – at least one year of experience.
License/Registration/Certification
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or Compact Licensure.
Certification by Unit (upon hire)
- RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, APHON, TNCC, ENPC
- Department‑specific certifications: PICU, Pediatrics, IMCU, Hematology/Oncology, NICU, Perioperative Services, Emergency Dept, Float Pool, Transport, Nurse Imaging, Multispecialty Center (details in internal documentation).
Additional certification timelines (for PRN, Contract, Travelers):
- Within 12 months: RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, APHON, TNCC, ENPC.
- Some departments require certifications within 12 or 18 months as per unit policy (e.g., Emergency Dept. requires NRP within 12 months and STABLE within 18 months).
Associate Degree in Nursing.
Skills- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to use computers for documentation purposes.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
