Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports the organization's vision and mission.

Utilizes knowledge of patient's developmental age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient and family-centered care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care.

Minimum

Position Requirements
  • Full Time – No experience required.
  • Part‑time, PRN, Contract, and Travelers – At least one year of experience required.
  • Float Pool, Transport, Nurse Imaging, and Multispecialty Center – At least one year of experience.
License and Registration
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or Compact Licensure.
Certification Requirements

All RNs must hold, or obtain within the specified time frames, the following certifications, depending on the unit of assignment:

  • Upon Hire – RN, BLS, ACLS.
  • Within 6 months – Relevant unit‑specific certifications (e.g., PICU, Pediatrics, IMCU, Hematology/Oncology, NICU, Emergency Department).
  • Within 12 months – Additional certifications such as NRP, STABLE, depending on unit.
  • Within 18 months – Further certifications as required.

Note:

Emergency Department RNs require NRP within 12 months and STABLE within 18 months.

Education and Training
  • Associate Degree in Nursing.
Required Skills
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Computer proficiency for documentation.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
