Location:

Las Palmas Medical Center, Building A, 7th Floor

Shift: 3, 12 hour shifts

Call Requirements:
None

Weekends: 4 a month that would differ based on AM and PM Shift. AM
- Saturday and Sunday; PM
- Friday and Saturday

Number of Beds: 19 beds, 10 PICU and 9 Peds

Number of Staff: 27 staff in total

Type of staff:

• Day Shift: 1 Charge, 3-4 Nurses
• Night Shift: 1 Charge, 3-4 Nurses

Patient Ratios: 1:2 PICU; 1:3 IMC (1:4 IMC with PCT), 1:5 Peds (1:6 Peds with PCT)

Type of equipment:
Hillrom Beds, GC monitors, ICU Medical plum 360 Pumps and Med fusion syringe pumps

EMR:
Meditech

Skill Set:

• Must have:
  Nursing experience, Pediatric Experience, Pediatric ICU Experience
• Preferred:
  Pediatric and Pediatric ICU Experience

Typical procedures performed on unit(s):
Lumbar Punctures, Intubations, Chest tube placements, Conscious Sedation

This unit is unique in the sense that it establishes a well foundation of pediatric care that omits from caring for a patient with a diagnosis of appendicitis that requires surgery; to caring for a critical patient that has a diagnosis of septic shock requiring vaso-active drips and mechanical ventilation for respiratory support. We are a growing and unique unit of its kind.
