Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Long-Term Care

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in overseeing nursing services and clinical operations within our long-term care facility. This leadership role helps ensure quality resident care, regulatory compliance, effective staffing, and strong clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Nursing with the overall management and supervision of nursing services.
  • Support the delivery of safe, compassionate, and person-centered resident care.
  • Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff and department leaders.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, employee performance, orientation, education, and retention.
  • Monitor clinical documentation, care plans, quality measures, and resident outcomes.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Support survey readiness and the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
  • Promote effective communication among nursing staff, residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Assist in identifying clinical and operational concerns and implementing appropriate solutions.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state, in good standing.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of progressive nursing experience, with long-term care or skilled nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous charge nurse, supervisory, management, or nursing leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of long-term care clinical practices, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and support nursing staff while maintaining accountability.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
