About the Role
The purpose of the Distributor Sales Representative - Outside position is to sell food products and supplies to food service establishments in order to meet and exceed sales goals. This position requires use of your own vehicle to travel to customers’ places of business in assigned territories, maintain product availability, compile prospective customer lists, and manage daily sales activities.
Sales Territory:
El Paso, TX
- Conduct routine visits to customer sites to ensure purchasing levels are adequate for existing products.
- Share information about additional products to optimize sales.
- Discuss outstanding issues with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Research newspapers, business directories, and other sources for potential client leads.
- Perform networking activities to obtain referrals.
- Make calls to potential customers to expand the customer base within assigned territory.
- Complete required administrative functions to ensure sales data and percentages are accurate.
- Perform collection duties to keep customer accounts current.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related business field preferred or equivalent sales experience.
- At least three years of recent food‑service sales experience selling to restaurants for a major food‑service distributor.
- Must have no more than three driving violations or a DUI conviction within the last three years and meet automobile insurance requirements.
- Good computer skills, with ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and use relevant internal applications.
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts related to sales, commissions, discounts, and volume.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to work well with others.
- Ability to multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Good time‑management skills with ability to reprioritize as needed.
- Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and negotiating skills.
- Enthusiastic self‑starter with a strong work ethic.
- Valid driver’s license issued in the state of employment.
- Must pass required drug and physical screening.
