Position OverviewDCOMM is seeking an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Splicer to support aerial and underground fiber and coax construction projects. This role is responsible for performing high-quality splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and plant activation while maintaining safety and production standards.
The ideal candidate has strong field experience, understands OSP construction environments, and can work independently while supporting crews in fast-paced deployment projects.
RequirementsKey Responsibilities
- Perform fusion splicing of single-mode fiber in aerial and underground OSP environments
- Prep and splice fiber in closures, terminals, cabinets, and pedestals
- Read and interpret fiber splice matrices, prints, and as-builts
- Perform OTDR and power meter testing and document results
- Troubleshoot fiber issues and identify signal loss causes
- Splice and activate hardline coax systems (when applicable)
- Maintain splice trailers, equipment, and inventory
- Ensure all work meets customer specifications and quality standards
- Follow all DCOMM and OSHA safety requirements
- Coordinate with linemen, construction crews, and market managers
- 1+ years of OSP fiber splicing experience required
- Experience with fusion splicing equipment (Fujikura, Sumitomo, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret fiber design maps and splice sheets
- Experience performing OTDR testing and analyzing traces
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to travel within assigned regions
- Experience with coax splicing and activation
- Experience working in aerial construction environments
- Experience supporting new fiber builds and overlash projects
- Knowledge of plant maintenance and troubleshooting
