Trailer Mechanic Apprentice

Responsibilities

• Ability to perform as a mechanics apprentice.
• All minor light repairs to trailers.
• Assist other mechanics.
• Perform welding and cutting.
• Understand and follow operating instructions for various tools and equipment.
• Read reports, technical manuals, and other documents.
• Read and understand all manufacturers’ policies and procedures.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records in accordance with Company policies.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures.
• Perform repairs in an efficient and timely manner to meet customer expectations.
• Ability to write concise work orders that mirror work performed daily.
• Follow good housekeeping standards.
• Perform all work in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report all accidents to a manager or supervisor.

• Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to succeed in a team environment.
• Continually strive to become more proficient.
• Basic mechanical skills.
• Use and knowledge of shop tools, cutting torch, and welding.
• Dependability.
• Have hand tools needed to make major and minor trailer repairs.
• Work shifts specified by Service Manager or Shop Foreman.
• Be available to work needed shifts and scheduled days.

• Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
• May also engage in standing, lifting, twisting, turning, climbing a ladder, etc.
• Must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
• Must be able to tolerate wearing personal protective equipment including a hard hat, steel toe safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles.
• Must be physically capable of performing tasks.
