This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of cranes and related lifting equipment used in construction projects. The Crane Operator will ensure that all lifting activities comply with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures. This role requires strong technical skills, situational awareness, and coordination with ground crews to ensure safe and productive lifting operations.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities- Operate cranes to lift, move, position, or place materials and equipment according to project plans and instructions.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and pre-operational checks on cranes and rigging equipment.
- Verify load weights and lifting capacities to ensure compliance with equipment limits.
- Signal and communicate clearly with riggers, signalers, and other site personnel to ensure safe operation.
- Maintain awareness of all obstacles, power lines, and site conditions that may impact crane operation.
- Perform minor maintenance and lubrication as needed to maintain equipment in a safe operating condition.
- Ensure cranes are safely and securely parked or stored when not in use.
- Complete required logs, reports, and inspection documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with setup, dismantling, and relocation of cranes as required for each project.
- Adhere to all site safety procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing risk and promoting safe work practices.
- May perform general labor or equipment-related tasks as needed to support project operations.
- Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure crews can operate at normal efficiency levels.
- Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
- Able to follow established safety rules applicable to heavy equipment operators, to maintain a safe environment, and to adapt and respond to potentially hazardous conditions and use the appropriate PPE.
- Able to follow directions, instructions, structured processes, and procedures.
- Able to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, wind, rain).
- Knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance practices, repairs, and techniques.
- Knowledge of equipment to ensure proper working conditions by checking gauges, dials, and other indicators.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with last-minute schedule changes, location, time of shift change (day & night), and overtime work as needed.
- High School or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the construction industry.
- One (1) year of work experience in roads and ground maintenance, or demonstrated ability to use equipment, and knowledge of road maintenance standards, adequately.
- A CDL or other special classification of operators’ license may be required.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clear MVR may be required.
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
- Frequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Constantly reaching, pushing, and pulling gears to operate levers and the steering wheel.
- Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for the entire duration of a shift/workday.
- May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist frequently.
Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery. - Exposure to the outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
- Able to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, wind, rain).
- Able to safely operate a personal and/or company motor vehicle.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
