Motor Vehicle Mechanic Helper - (A.1) Job Description MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the performance of maintenance and repair activities under the supervision of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic;
• Follow a checklist of inspection procedures;
• Read and interpret diagnostic test results;
• Raise trucks, buses and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists;
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and/or equipment;
• Assist with inspections as directed by the Motor Vehicle Mechanic;
• Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts or equipment;
• Dismount and Mount tires

Perform other duties as directed by the Work leader or Vehicle Fleet Manager

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.

• Must possess a valid Ohio State driver’s license
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance for military base access
• 3-6 months general vehicle repair and maintenance experience preferred
• Mechanical aptitude accepted in place of experience
• Basic knowledge of the standard practices in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles
• Basic knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles
