Education and Experience:
Associate's degree or higher in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and three (3) years of journey-level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water, or wastewater treatment facility, including one (1) year of supervisory experience or High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of journey-level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water, or wastewater treatment facility, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certificates:
Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by time of appointment. Valid State of Texas Journeyman License required at time of application.
General Purpose
Under general supervision, coordinate with electricians, contractors, and stakeholders on all advanced diagnosis, installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of high- and low-voltage electrical equipment processes and procedures to ensure that state, local, safety, and internal standards are adhered to and met throughout the project lifespan.
Typical Duties
Oversee the inspection and testing of electrical equipment, components, and systems to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment, repair, or replacement. Involves:
Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in buildings. Develop and implement electrical safety and electrical maintenance procedures and maintain maintenance records. Assist with developing and preparing electrical plans, schematic diagrams, and document modifications to upgrade electrical equipment and facilities. Estimate electrical projects to include staffing, material, and cost and recommend repair or replacement of equipment. Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair systems, equipment, and components to required specifications.
Assist with performing analysis of wiring diagrams, drawings, and circuits. Perform updates on electrical production equipment and systems. Interpret electrical codes, technical drawings, diagrams, flow charts, and project documentation. Direct coordination of electrical and location of underground lines and other service needs with subordinates, contractors, vendors, and others. Monitor and inspect the work performed by subordinates and contractors to ensure compliance with the current adopted National Electrical Code (NEC) and city ordinances.
Recommend operational changes to preserve and enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Prepare, research, and maintain project budgets and ensure all deliverables are to be completed in a timely manner.
Direct, mentor, and support the industrial electricians performing electrical work. Involves:
Plan, schedule, coordinate, review, and monitor work assignments according to required plans and specifications. Coordinate pertinent electrical projects as needed. Review and oversee work schedules of all subordinate levels. Analyze, evaluate, and ensure daily goals are met in a timely manner. Conduct research, provide solutions to problems, and correct errors. Ensure departmental compliance with codes and safety regulations. Adhere to safety protocols, operation of equipment, and handling of materials.
Enforce production safety and quality by supporting leadership in determining solutions for process issues and inefficiencies. Improve electrical systems' reliability, extend equipment's serviceable life, and reduce electrical hazards. Identify and address issues or non-compliant work. Develop, coordinate, and implement applicable technical and safety training.
Assist with process improvement plans and orderly maintenance. Involves:
Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety and electrical maintenance procedures and maintain maintenance records. Order electrical supplies and equipment to maintain comprehensive stock or electrical components needed. Prepare and present reports detailing the status of electrical projects and work orders. Recommend implementation or revision of existing processes, policies or safety practices and training. Maintain organized and accurate documentation on appropriate forms and tracking of work orders, inspections, and other documentation.
Ensure orderly maintenance and cleanliness of work area and tools. Keep the work area clean and safe from any hazards. Manage equipment, inventory, tool, and material inventory. Ensure the availability of equipment to ensure effective operations. Assist with budget maintenance and preparation. Report on section activities. Perform research on special properties.
