Position Overview
Industrial Electrician – Unclassified Contract (Job Number U). Salary: $70,815.26 – $ annually.
Location:
Various Locations within the City of El Paso, TX. FLSA:
Exempt. Department:
El Paso Water Utilities. Opening Date: 06/18/2026. Closing Date: 06/30/2026 11:59 PM Mountain.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of journey‑level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water, or wastewater treatment facility, including one (1) year of supervisory experience;
- or High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of journey‑level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water, or wastewater treatment facility, including one (1) year of supervisory experience;
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent by time of appointment;
- Valid State of Texas Journeyman License at time of application.
- Coordinate with electricians, contractors, and stakeholders on advanced diagnosis, installation, repair, maintenance, and testing of high‑ and low‑voltage electrical equipment.
- Oversee inspection and testing of electrical equipment, components, and systems to identify hazards, defects, and necessary adjustments.
- Oversee installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in buildings.
- Develop and implement electrical safety and maintenance procedures; maintain maintenance records.
- Assist in developing electrical plans, schematic diagrams, and documenting modifications to upgrade equipment and facilities.
- Estimate electrical projects, including staffing, material, cost; recommend repair or replacement of equipment.
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair systems, equipment, and components to specifications; perform analysis of wiring diagrams, drawings, and circuits.
- Interpret electrical codes, technical drawings, diagrams, flow charts, and project documentation.
- Coordinate electrical and underground line locations with subordinates, contractors, vendors, and others.
- Monitor and inspect work by subordinates and contractors to ensure compliance with NEC and city ordinances.
- Recommend operational changes to preserve and enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare, research, and maintain project budgets; ensure all deliverables are completed on schedule.
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, review, and monitor work assignments; coordinate pertinent electrical projects as needed.
- Conduct research, provide solutions to problems, and correct errors.
- Ensure department compliance with codes and safety regulations.
- Enforce production safety and quality; improve electrical systems' reliability; reduce hazards.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement technical and safety training programs.
- Assist with process improvement plans, orderly maintenance, ordering supplies, budgeting, and reporting.
- Supervise assigned employees: assign, schedule, guide, and monitor work; appraise performance; provide training; counsel, motivate, and maintain harmonious relationships; enforce personnel rules and regulations.
- Maintain overall compliance with all job‑related safety, quality, and operational standards.
