Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician supports safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations by performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, and equipment support, with a primary focus on embroidery machines and related production equipment.
This position is responsible for identifying mechanical, electrical, and computerized equipment issues; completing routine maintenance; replacing worn or defective components; and ensuring equipment is operating safely and effectively. The Technician works closely with machine operators, Maintenance leadership, Manufacturing, and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and support production requirements.
The Technician is expected to continuously develop technical knowledge through hands-on training, cross-training, and equipment-specific instruction. All responsibilities must be performed in alignment with company policies, quality standards, and Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.
The Maintenance Technician supports manufacturing operations by maintaining the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of embroidery machines and other assigned production equipment. The position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, troubleshooting, adjustments, repairs, and replacement of worn or defective components to minimize equipment downtime and support production goals.
The Technician works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, machine operators, Manufacturing leadership, and other departments to identify equipment issues, respond to maintenance needs, and ensure machinery is returned to safe and effective operating condition. The role requires hands-on mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, timely communication, accurate maintenance documentation, and adherence to established maintenance and safety procedures. The Technician is expected to continuously develop technical capabilities through structured training, hands-on experience, and cross-training on manufacturing equipment.
All work must be performed in accordance with company policies, quality expectations, Environmental, Health and Safety standards, and applicable equipment safety requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may be modified based on business and operational needs:
- Regularly inspect and assess the operating condition of embroidery machines and assigned production equipment.
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, oiling, adjusting, and replacing machine components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computerized equipment faults.
- Repair or replace defective, damaged, or worn machine parts as necessary.
- Perform basic maintenance procedures designed to prevent equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
- Read, interpret, and follow equipment manuals, technical instructions, diagrams, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
- Assist with equipment setup, adjustments, and changeovers based on production requirements and job specifications.
- Change needles, components, and other machine-related materials as required.
- Test equipment following maintenance, adjustment, or repair to verify safe and proper operation.
- Escalate complex equipment failures or recurring issues to the Maintenance Supervisor when additional technical support is required.
- Complete assigned preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, parts replaced, and other maintenance activities.
- Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate findings to Maintenance leadership.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, machine performance, and preventive maintenance practices.
- Maintain tools, equipment, replacement parts, and maintenance supplies in an organized and serviceable condition.
- Respond promptly to equipment problems to minimize production interruptions and downtime.
- Consult with machine operators, supervisors, and managers to identify and resolve equipment performance issues.
- Support equipment adjustments and troubleshooting during production.
- Communicate equipment status, repair progress, and potential operational concerns to appropriate leaders.
- Assist other Maintenance personnel and departments as required based on operational needs.
- Participate in cross-training to develop knowledge of additional manufacturing equipment and maintenance processes.
- Maintain current knowledge of embroidery equipment, manufacturing technology, troubleshooting methods, and maintenance techniques.
- Follow all company Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and established safe-work practices.
- Follow applicable machine safety, electrical safety, guarding, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements based on assigned work and training.
