Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Mission
To ensure the safe and efficient operation of our trailer fleet by performing skilled maintenance, repair, and inspection tasks. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining the high standard of our trailers, minimizing downtime, and supporting our commitment to delivering reliable and timely transportation services to our customers.
ResponsibilitiesTrailer Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on trailers to identify and address potential issues before they occur. This includes checking brakes, suspension systems, electrical components, tires, and other critical parts.
Repairs and Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues affecting trailers. Efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement appropriate solutions to ensure minimal disruption to operations. Review DVIRs in Samsara, inspect and repair equipment as needed to resolve reported issues, clear DVIRs, and log maintenance performed.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure trailers meet all safety and regulatory standards set by relevant authorities. Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities to demonstrate compliance.
Emergency Repairs:
Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimize downtime and swiftly return trailers to operational status. Follow up with the call until the driver is rolling.
Parts Management:
Collaborate with the procurement team to order and maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts and components required for trailer repairs.
Team
Collaboration:
Collaborate with other mechanics, drivers, and operational staff to address maintenance‑related concerns and promote a culture of safety and efficiency. After‑hours service calls will be performed as necessary, including weekends.
Equipment Upgrades:
Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades or modifications that can enhance the performance, longevity, and safety of our trailer fleet.
Training and Development:
Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements in trailer maintenance to continually improve skills and knowledge.
Cleanliness and Organization:
Ensure the maintenance shop and work area are kept clean, organized, and in compliance with safety standards.
- Proven experience as a trailer mechanic or in a similar maintenance role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and expertise in diagnosing and repairing trailers.
- Proficiency in using various tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer software relevant to trailer maintenance.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures pertaining to trailers.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy parts, prolonged standing and walking, bending and stooping to access trailer components, reaching and handling tools, occasional climbing, pushing and pulling equipment, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
