Brief

Job Description

The Materials Management Specialist reports to the Regional Business Services Manager (BSM) in each region within Regional Administrative Services (RAS). Responsibilities and job duties include assembly, repair, delivery/pick‑up, and installation of equipment, furniture, and other business supplies. The role involves receiving, signing for, and inspecting packages in the mail room or warehouse and delivering them to appropriate personnel at HHS offices throughout the region.

Additional duties include processing and distributing document service/copy requests, sorting and mailing distribution, driving and maintaining vehicles, ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies, performing warehouse duties, assisting with office moves, completing minor building repairs, overseeing contractors and vendors, serving on the Regional Disaster Deployment Team, and utilizing CAFM and CAPPS systems.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for driving state agency trucks and cargo vans to deliver and pickup large items such as furniture and equipment. Provides mail pickup and small package delivery while on routine delivery route to HHS offices in region. Handles safe and efficient loading, unloading, and delivery of cargo. Evaluates multiple delivery locations to determine the most cost‑effective and time‑saving route. Monitors vehicle maintenance records and performs minor vehicle repairs.
  • Performs shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse and regional mailroom, including receipt, inspection, documentation, routing, and shipping of packages. Maintains records on postage and shipping.
  • Performs standard warehouse duties including safe and efficient storage and inventory of materials, operating motorized equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, and monitoring stock levels.
  • Assembles and installs furniture and equipment, performs minor building repairs, assists with office moves, and oversees contractor activities.
  • Functions as a member of the Regional Disaster Deployment Team, delivering, setting up, and monitoring emergency equipment.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of motor vehicle operations and basic maintenance, including safe cargo loading and unloading methods.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal traffic rules and regulations for cargo and mail delivery.
  • Knowledge of warehousing procedures and safe use of motorized equipment.
  • Skill in operating motor vehicles including panel trucks and cargo vans.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities.
  • Skill in using standard agency computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Word and Outlook.
