SUMMARY: Experienced equipment operation with respect to grading, drainage, sub grade preparation, and paving. Should be familiar with and have experience in asphalt paving and the operation of equipment dealing with asphalt specific areas. Operates heavy duty construction and maintenance equipment such as dozers, graders, front-end loaders, heavy mowing equipment, and other equipment with complex operating requirements. Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment.

The operation of this equipment entails considerable manipulative difficulty and employees are responsible for the safety of other workers who assist with work performed. Through use of the equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Maintains regular attendance at work and is consistently on-time to the work site.
• Individuals assigned to this position are routinely expected to work 40 hours per week, and be available for emergencies on a 24 hour, and 7 day a week basis.
• Make inspections of vehicles, equipment and machinery used for road building, bridge maintenance, tin-horn installation, and repair operations.
• Ensures that all safety-related issues and problems are immediately reported to supervisor.
• Runs and operates following equipment or machinery: e.g. trucks, scraper, dozer, compactor, wood chipper, brush hog, asphalt recycling equipment, sander, chain saws, snow plow, loaders, track-hoe, road grader, backhoe.
• Cleans up debris, and hauls bulk materials such as gravel, and keeps rivers, creek beds and streams clean so that area water supply can run appropriately.
• Operates road chipper lay-down operation behind Distributor truck.
• Using proper excavation equipment, digs and cleans trenches.
• Maintains servicing of vehicles and equipment.
• Other assignments and tasks as needed to assist the team in completing a project efficiently, professionally and by meeting all set deadlines.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); additional certificate in technical training technical school; 4-6 months minimum experience, or combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

MATHEMATICAL

SKILLS:

Ordinarily, no math skills required, other than the ability to add and subtract simple two digit numbers, using simple measurements, and understanding basic math instructions.

REASONING ABILITY: must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple or occasional multiple step instructions. Incumbent must possess the ability to deal with standardized tasks and in situations with occasional variables.
