Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. The role ensures compliance with client and state requirements by observing, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations. Technicians work independently or in a team under a supervisor, using various locating methods and equipment.

• Locate underground facilities using transmitters and other equipment.
• Operate in varied terrain and weather conditions, including construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to route and perform tasks efficiently.
• Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed.
• Maintain professional, timely work while communicating with customers, co‑employees, and third parties.
• Coordinate with management, contractors, and utility customers to avoid damage.
• Use appropriate technology and tools to complete duties.
• Collaborate within a supervised team environment.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• State‑issued driver’s license.
• Problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints, including job tickets and maps.
• Experience with vacuum trucks (A+ preferred).
• Physical capability to lift over 50 lbs and stand or walk for multiple hours.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Successful completion of a background screening with no violations in the last 5 years.
• Pass a DOT drug test.
