Summary of Position:
The LAET Pilot Car Driver is responsible for escorting oversized, overweight, and specialized oilfield equipment to and from field locations, service centers, and customer sites. This position requires advanced driving skills, specialized load securement knowledge, and strict adherence to DOT regulations, permitting requirements, and company safety standards. The Pilot Car Driver must be able to perform basic maintenance on all equipment and keep Tractors/Trailers always clean and in safe operating condition.
Qualifications & Requirements:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Class A preferred.
- Understanding traffic laws and a strong commitment to safety standards.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
- Pilot Vehicle Certified, TWIC, and Hand Flag Certified is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read permits and navigate a given route.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours and travel extensively, including overnight stays.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including standing and lifting as needed.
- Pilot car driver certification is a plus

- Escort oversized loads and construction equipment to and from job sites in coordination with CDL drivers.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance to ensure vehicle readiness.
- Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate logistics and ensure timely deliveries.
- Demonstrate mechanical ability with knowledge of truck repair.
- Coordinate with dispatch, logistics personnel, and field supervisors regarding load requirements, routes, and delivery timelines.
- Comply with all permit requirements, including designated routes and travel restrictions.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Identify and report vehicle maintenance needs, mechanical issues, or safety concerns.
- Assist with staging, loading, and yard operations as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned equipment.
- Demonstrate leadership in safety practices and operational discipline.

Working Conditions/Environment:Regularly operates in a highly safety-conscious environment, outdoor and indoor. Regularly be exposed to cold, heat, dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.
