Overview
The Management Information Systems (MIS) Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Adult Education Programs, manages the collection, data entry, analysis, and reporting of data using the Literacy Pro Systems (LACES), executes the Data Quality Plan and Quarterly Reports for the Adult Education Programs. Duties include providing accurate, consistent, and timely data for state reports, federal reports, internal data requests, and external agency requests, as well as administrative assignments that require attention to detail and a high degree of independent action.
The MIS Specialist deals with confidential and sensitive information.
- Work with Program Director, Intake and Assessment Specialists, and Instructional Specialists to meet program goals and performance measures.
- Lead program data analysis for continuous improvement.
- Extract and reformat data from the LACES system.
- Collect and analyze performance indicator data; ensure data are accessible, in a timely manner, to staff and other stakeholders.
- Conduct data entry into LACES database.
- Provide training and supervision of the quality of data entry done by data entry assistant(s) to ensure accuracy of outcome data.
- Provide reports to track graduates who have moved into post-secondary education at Chesapeake College.
- Provide partners with data reports when requested.
- Assist in identifying program’s professional development needs for LACES data entry and coordinating activities to address those needs.
- Work with the IAS to develop and continuously improve procedures for collecting, documenting, and reporting data to MIS.
- Assist with the development and execution of the program’s Data Quality Plan.
- Complete mandated federal and state statistical reports as assigned.
- Attend state meetings and activities and communicate/implement pertinent information/trainings to appropriate local program staff.
- Coordinate list of graduates based on LACES information.
- Stay current on LACES policies, procedures, data elements, and local programs’ Intake and Update forms.
- Participate in technical assistance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree, and proficiency with database management and reporting, plus 3 years of relevant experience is preferred; or an Associate’s degree with a minimum of two years related work experience. Strong organizational, detail-oriented, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Most of the job is sedentary; however, occasional periods of light work may be required.
- Lifting up to approximately 35lbs. occasionally.
- Other physical requirements will include, but may not be limited to, the following physical activities:
