Position OverviewConstruction Manager III – TDIP Construction Manager
The role reports to the Project Manager and oversees field construction activities, safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational interfaces for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Terminal Development & Improvement Program (TDIP) at LAX.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor all on-site construction activities to ensure successful project delivery.
- Apply working knowledge of construction disciplines, installation methods, and techniques.
- Ensure construction operations follow approved work plans and Area Shutdown Requests (ASRs), including proper notifications and coordination.
- Become thoroughly familiar with contractual obligations and technical requirements for facilities being constructed.
- Ensure work is performed and inspected to the latest approved plans/specifications, including approved changes, submittals, and RFIs.
- Collaborate with Construction Contractor and stakeholders to plan construction activities and identify critical milestones/priorities.
- Monitor budget estimates and staffing needs for defined scope and schedule.
- Monitor use/assignment of manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency and meet schedule and budget goals.
- Identify potential problem areas early and take preventative action to protect milestones and phased delivery.
- Enforce safe construction practices and quality control while maintaining efficiency and cost discipline.
- Prepare periodic progress reports for leadership and client stakeholders.
- Ensure implementation of applicable policies and procedures, including Project Labor Agreement (PLA) policies.
- Participate in coordination meetings with Construction Contractor, trade partners, stakeholders, LAWA Operations, etc.
- Review Contractor Potential Change Order claims for merit and support negotiation through final resolution.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support program delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience, preferably on airport projects.
- Experience supporting projects $100M+.
- Experience with delivery methods including Design‑Bid‑Build, Design + CMAR, Design‑Build.
- Proven ability to perform in a management capacity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, or other relevant licensure/certifications.
- Familiarity with project management information systems (e.g., PM Web).
- Master’s degree.
Los Angeles, CA (LAX). Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM –5:00 PM. Onsite (office and/or project site).
Compensation$156,000 – $166,400 per year.
