Overview

Freelance Master Control Operator - Spectrum News. This role is part of Charter Communications, Spectrum News, and involves ensuring quality control for all technical aspects of news and sports programming.

• Quality control for all technical aspects of news and sports programming, including audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, and spelling.
• Collaborate with the production team to produce accurate, engaging, informative, and entertaining broadcasts.
• Handle multiple projects and multitask in a fast-paced environment, monitoring for issues that might arise.

• Experience:
  
  0-2 years in television news
• Education:
  
  High School diploma
• Technical skills:
  Advanced knowledge of broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas (standard and high-definition, non-linear edit systems, VTRs, server-based recording/playback devices, server networking and transfer technologies, broadcast routers, intercom panels)
• Skills:
  
  Strong technical aptitude with control room and studio production technology (automated on-air playout, newsroom editorial software, nonlinear editing, microwave/satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, router systems)
• Abilities:
  Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines, multi-task, and adapt quickly; ability to move equipment up to 50 lbs
• Schedule:
  
  Availability for varied shifts, weekends, holidays, and flexibility for breaking news or severe weather events

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or related field; comparable television work experience

• Normal office environment
• In-person, phone, and email communication
• Ability to distinguish colors and discern sounds

The base pay range is $20.00/hr - $40.60/hr the actual compensation will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay information is provided for transparency and compliance with local wage minimums. Some positions may be eligible for additional incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
