Job Summary
The Technical Trainer is responsible for developing and delivering technical training that supports manufacturing teams, quality inspectors, and other personnel working on high‑reliability space hardware. Training includes classroom instruction, hands‑on demonstrations, and online courses delivered through the company’s Learning Management System (LMS). Working as part of the Quality & EHS Team, the trainer collaborates with process owners and stakeholders to identify skill gaps, design practical solutions, and provide on‑the‑job coaching to strengthen compliance with industry standards and improve team performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering technical curriculum for manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Designing and maintaining curriculum aligned to industry standards (e.g., J‑STD‑001, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, NASA standards).
- Delivering instructor‑led training through lectures, demonstrations, and hands‑on practice.
- Partnering with process owners to conduct training needs assessments and close skill gaps.
- Managing course scheduling and maintaining training records in the MSS LMS.
- Developing and implementing methods to validate training effectiveness (knowledge checks, skills demonstrations, proficiency assessments) and applying results to improve programs.
- Providing targeted informal/on‑the‑job training to strengthen skills and prevent recurring non‑conformances.
- Supporting special projects for Quality and EHS, such as facility ESD testing or compliance initiatives.
- Enhancing training effectiveness by leveraging LMS capabilities and next‑generation tools (multimedia content, digital modeling, automation).
- Ensuring 100% onsite presence at one of the listed location options.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience developing and delivering technical training in aerospace, space, or other high‑reliability manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge and/or certification in IPC J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑610, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, or relevant NASA standards.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with learning platforms (e.g., LMS
365, Workday Learning) and familiarity with instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE). - Hands‑on experience with high‑reliability assembly techniques (soldering, harness fabrication, epoxy, torque tools, GD&T, microscope use).
- Experience working in cleanroom environments with compliance to ESD, FOD, and contamination controls.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear training content.
- Collaborative experience across teams, building relationships, and adapting in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to work across shifts (first, second, or split) as required.
- Experience creating engaging training content using digital methods (video, simulation, e‑learning modules).
- Experience developing technical illustrations, 3D models, or digital manuals to support training.
- Familiarity with emerging learning technologies (AR/VR, AI‑enabled platforms) and interest in exploring their application in aerospace manufacturing.
- Background in blended learning design (mixing instructor‑led, virtual, and on‑the‑job training).
- Experience developing train‑the‑trainer programs or mentoring other instructors.
- Knowledge of human performance improvement (HPI) methods and using training metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Active or ability to obtain security clearance.
