Job Description & How to Apply Below
Overview
We’re a well-funded hardware startup building autonomous platforms for inspecting critical infrastructure in harsh, real-world environments. Our systems combine advanced electromechanical design with intelligent software to deliver reliable, always-on visibility where traditional solutions fall short. We’re growing our engineering team and looking for a Founding Electrical Engineer to own system-level architecture from concept through deployment.
Responsibilities- Own system-level electrical architecture across propulsion, energy storage, power distribution, control, and communications
- Define system topologies, interfaces, grounding, and shielding strategies to ensure safety, robustness, and serviceability
- Develop block diagrams, power trees, and system schematics to guide PCB, harness, and enclosure design
- Define and track power budgets, current paths, and worst-case operating conditions
- Lead component selection across power electronics, sensors, converters, controllers, and communication interfaces
- Collaborate closely with mechanical and software engineers to deliver practical, manufacturable systems
- Support electrical safety, EMC, and regulatory compliance through appropriate design choices
- 2–5 years’ experience in system-level electrical design for complex electromechanical systems
- Strong background in power electronics, sensors, and embedded hardware architectures
- Experience with batteries, BMS, or hybrid power systems
- Comfort owning designs end-to-end, from early architecture through testing and iteration
- Hands-on experience building and validating real hardware
- Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, marine, aerospace, or other harsh environments
- Familiarity with reliability analysis (FMEA, DFMEA, MTBF)
- Startup experience or comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Competitive salary + meaningful equity
- Work on cutting-edge autonomous hardware with real-world impact
- Small, highly technical team with end-to-end ownership
- On-site role with direct access to hardware and testing
- Opportunity to shape foundational systems in an early-stage company
