Job Description
At Boeing, we innovate and collaborate to make the world a better place. We’re committed to fostering an environment for every teammate that’s welcoming, respectful and inclusive, with great opportunity for professional growth. Find your future with us.
Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have direct impact to global security, like missile warning and Earth observation.
Our team is curious, bold and innovative. We take risks, innovate and explore new techniques and technologies. We influence change because we challenge the status quo. And when we watch our satellites launch, we know each one of us made it happen.
The Astrodynamics Team is responsible for conducting a range of modeling, simulation, and analyses in areas such as space mission design, trajectory design, orbital maneuvers, orbit estimation, space debris collision and avoidance analyses, and space domain awareness.
Engineers in the Astrodynamics group are integral throughout the entire program lifecycle, providing mission design inputs, maneuver plans to meet mission objectives, as well as console support for on-orbit operations. They are directly responsible for determining the necessary capability of the satellite’s propulsion system and successfully maneuvering vehicles during flight operations. They oversee the orbital Concept-of-Operations (CONOPS) from inception to on-orbit operations, and through to end-of-life disposal.
As an Astrodynamics Engineer, you will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for the Astrodynamics subsystem for a given program, study, or proposal. In addition to execution of technical design, analysis, and operation, you may be responsible for project and technical management activities to support programs, ensuring that high-quality work products are delivered on-time.
In addition to your engineering responsibilities, as an experienced member of the team you will be expected to set the engineering standard for the Astro team. You will define methods, tools, and processes to follow, and you will be accountable for the quality of the work coming from the group will be expected to mentor other members of the team and develop the next generation of Astrodynamics engineering talent.

Determine and derive astrodynamics requirements to perform customer missions
Optimize spacecraft trajectories based on fuel, time, and/or performance characteristics
Develop tools and procedures for spacecraft mission execution
Perform station-keeping operations on orbiting satellites
Provide mentorship, guidance, and assurance of engineering quality for the team
