Are you an Electrical Engineer who loves to create interesting contraptions? This role supports Mattel brands including Barbie, Monster High, Hot Wheels, Jurassic World, Minecraft, Dark Knight, WWE, and more. The position requires managing multiple new electronic items each year, collaborating with engineers, designers, and cross‑functional teams in El Segundo, East Aurora, China.
What Your Impact Will BeLead design, prototyping, and troubleshooting of analog and digital electronic circuits for new product concepts, contributing technology elements, and participating in brainstorming and collaborative development within the D&D team.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills Required- 3–8 years hands‑on experience in design, prototyping, and troubleshooting analog and digital electronic circuits.
- Vision and perseverance to take ideas from concept through development and production.
- Working knowledge of components; ability to define systems and architecture – hardware, firmware, and software.
- Self‑starting, self‑motivating, self‑directing, and a strong team player.
- Project management skills: lead, multi‑task, and handle several projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with ARM, 6502, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar; experience with smaller embedded systems for toys/handheld devices.
- Experience with electromechanical systems.
- Experience with audio engineering, RF engineering, communications, and signal processing.
- Proficiency with software development for embedded systems.
- Experience in product development within consumer electronics industry.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with Design, Project Management, Packaging, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical team members.
- Demonstrated growth mindset.
- BS in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively pitch toy concepts to peers and upper management.
- Experience in product development within the toy industry.
- Experience working with vendors and PCBA providers.
- Vendor evaluation experience.
- Software testing and development debugging.
- Building prototypes based on input from non‑technical partners.
- Mechatronic / animatronic system design.
- Displays.
- MEMS motion sensors & microphones.
- Wireless systems (BT, WiFi, 2.4G).
- Microprocessors and peripherals.
