About the Role

Radiant is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong focus on digital signal processing (DSP) to lead the development of signal processing and data acquisition architectures for terrestrial reactor control systems, with a long-term path toward space reactor applications. You will serve as the technical authority for real‑time signal processing, owning the design and deployment of DSP pipelines—from requirements definition and algorithm development through implementation, validation, and deployment.

This role emphasizes end-to-end DSP development, including digital filtering, detection and estimation algorithms, and real‑time processing on embedded processors and FPGA platforms. You will work closely with hardware teams to interface with mixed‑signal systems (ADC/DACs, sensors), ensuring accurate sampling, low‑noise signal conditioning, and robust performance in high‑reliability environments critical to reactor control.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital signal processing (DSP), including filtering, signal conditioning, estimation, and real‑time signal analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ development and experience with real‑time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with analog and mixed‑signal systems from a DSP perspective, including ADC/DAC interfacing, sampling theory, and quantization effects.
  • Hands‑on experience with test planning, verification, and system debugging of DSP algorithms and embedded systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams, including software, hardware, and system‑level engineers.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital signal processing (DSP), including filtering, signal conditioning, estimation, and real‑time signal analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in embedded C/C++ development and experience with real‑time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with FPGA design and implementation, including HDL (VHDL/Verilog) coding, simulation, and DSP algorithm deployment on FPGA platforms.
  • Understanding of analog and mixed‑signal systems from a DSP perspective, including ADC/DAC interfacing, sampling theory, and quantization effects.
  • Hands‑on experience with test planning, verification, and system debugging of DSP algorithms, FPGA systems, and embedded platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams, including software, hardware, and system‑level engineers.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on signal processing.
  • Experience developing advanced DSP algorithms, such as detection, estimation, filtering, or spectral analysis, in real‑time or high‑reliability applications.
  • Experience deploying DSP algorithms on FPGA or embedded platforms, including hardware/software co‑design and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with high‑reliability or harsh environments (nuclear, aerospace, defense, or industrial), including constraints on determinism, latency, and fault tolerance.
  • Understanding of radiation effects on digital systems and approaches to robust or radiation‑tolerant design.
  • Experience working with sensor data and instrumentation systems, including noise characterization, calibration, and signal extraction.
  • Exposure to nuclear instrumentation, radiation detection systems, or similar low‑SNR signal environments.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission.
  • Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.
