Subject Matter Expert Electronics Design and Analysis Engineer (Electronic Packaging Design)
Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems is hiring a Subject Matter Expert Level Space Electronics Packaging and Mechanical Product Design and Analysis Engineer to join our Electronics Packaging and Product Design Team in ElSegundo, CA. The role focuses on full in‑house cradle‑to‑grave work, encompassing mechanical PCB design, electronics packaging, and thermal/structural/vibration analysis across satellite missions.
Position Responsibilities- Lead coordination of multi‑discipline groups to develop and understand requirements and develop high‑level and detailed designs consistent with those requirements.
- Guide structural design and configuration development by performing trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.
- Perform detailed structural and thermal analysis using hand calculations and analysis tools.
- Document structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer and regulatory requirements at module, slice, and unit levels.
- Collaborate with Electrical Engineering to perform sizing and placement studies, and layout and route printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Validate designs through reviews, testing and analysis.
- Develop, deploy and support new processes and process improvements to reduce cycle time and drive product improvements.
- Conduct root cause and corrective action investigations to resolve failures and plan go‑forward actions.
- Identify, track and status technical performance measures to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Support Supplier Management with make/buy recommendations and limited technical services.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs meeting projected requirements.
- Permission to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post‑Start required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field.
- 9+ years of experience using Computer‑Aided Design (CAD) tools.
- Experience with either thermal, structural, dynamics, and/or vibration analysis or printed circuit board (PCB) design/assembly.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Experience with in aerospace or related industry or with space electronics.
- Experience with ANSYS, Creo, Solid Works, finite element analysis, Siemens NX, Nastran, MSC Patran, COMSOL Multiphysics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data to develop conclusions and recommendations.
- 3+ years of experience leading teams on complex projects.
- Successful candidates must satisfy Boeing’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

- Work location is 100% onsite in ElSegundo, CA (optional 9/80 schedule rotation).
Subject Matter Expert – Level4 pay range: $146,200–$197,800. Additional variable compensation and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid and unpaid time off are available.
