Systems Engineering First Year Intern – National Security Solutions (NSS) Internship
Role
Summary:
As a National Security Solutions – Systems Engineering First Year Intern, you will work with K ’s Mission Tech Solutions team on SATCOM system acquisition and related data science initiatives.
- Produce reports from Systems Engineering and Program Management data sources to support SATCOM system acquisition defined by the Chief Engineer.
- Contribute to a data science community of interest in development processes and procedures to integrate data science into Model Based Systems Engineering.
- Build functional prototypes using existing AI tools and foundation models.
- Work closely with other on‑site interns on MBSE & AI tasks.
- Mentor with experienced professionals and gain experience in the field.
- Must be pursuing a degree in a technical field (Bachelor’s, Graduate’s or PhD).
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Strong desire to learn and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to a minimum 1‑semester summer co‑op/internship.
- Knowledge and application of Python and SQL.
- U.S. citizenship; must pass a security pre‑screen and be able to obtain a security clearance.
Average 20 hours per week, 10 weeks during Summer 2026. Basic compensation: $23 per hour (California only). Rate may vary based on location, skills, clearance level and internal parity.
