Entry-Level Manufacturing Engineer

Overview

Entry-Level Manufacturing Engineer – The Boeing Company. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Engineer (Entry-Level) to support the entire SMT process from setup and programming to troubleshooting and continuous improvement of SMT equipment used in PCB assembly.

Location:

El Segundo, CA.

• Establish procedures, standards, protocols and reporting requirements.
• Utilize lean manufacturing tools and recommend improvements in production methods, standards, tooling, equipment, layout, procedures, product designs, and performance efficiency.
• Support engineering and manufacturing activities for all Surface Mount operations including programming, calibrating, and operating equipment and machines.
• Develop preventive maintenance plans and support repairs on SMT machines and equipment.
• Design and modify solder paste stencils and other SMT tooling and shop aids.
• Develop SMT rework thermal profiles to perform rework and repair of electronic assemblies.
• Configure and optimize SMT machines and equipment for building electronics assemblies, including requirements for new designs.
• Maintain build schedule targets by resolving production issues while preserving manufacturing and design integrity.
• Facilitate close collaboration with the engineering team during design, build, and test to provide feedback for design improvement.
• Develop and execute Statistical Process Control for manufacturing processes.
• Work with the design team in response to manufacturing problems, parts obsolescence, and requirement changes.
• Support the transition of products from development to volume production and identify opportunities for yield, performance, and cost improvements.
• Work is 100% onsite at listed location options.

• Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance; US Citizenship required. Final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required.
• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• Experience with IPC & J-STD-001.
• 1+ years of experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB), Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Manufacturing Engineering and Process Design.
• 1+ years of experience with SMT machines and equipment such as Solder Paste Printer, Solder Paste Inspection, Pick and Place, Reflow Oven, Automated Optical Inspection, etc.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and documents, CAD files, instructions, operation manuals, safety rules, etc.

• 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Interpersonal and language skills to collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels and with external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of problem-solving tools to continually improve processes while eliminating defects and errors.
• Additional education/experience in line with advanced technical education in engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (as applicable).

• Pay & Benefits:
  Total Rewards package includes base pay, variable compensation, and a range of benefits (health, retirement, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time away). Pay is based on experience, qualifications, market and business considerations.
• Summary pay range for Level 1 (Entry-Level): $76,500 - $103,500.
