Raytheon’s Air & Space Defense Systems Requirements and Capabilities (R&C) organization is seeking an Associate Director for Strategic and National Space Systems (SNSS) to lead new business growth in support of the Mission Solutions & Payloads (MSP) sub‑strategic business unit. In this role you will manage a multi‑billion‑dollar pipeline, drive market engagement and growth, and help shape the future of advanced space payloads, enabling technologies, and ground systems for U.S. Government, commercial, and international markets.
Responsibilities- Lead the new business lifecycle for Strategic and National Space System sensing (payload) opportunities, overseeing all phases from inception to program startup.
- Create and implement compelling, customer‑aligned win strategies that highlight Raytheon’s differentiators and key value propositions.
- Drive early and ongoing customer engagement to shape requirements, anticipate future needs, and influence acquisition strategies ahead of formal solicitations.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with internal stakeholders across multiple levels to ensure high‑quality inputs and discriminating products for new business pursuits.
- Manage applicable new business resources, including staffing and budgets, coordinating with Technical Directors on internal IRAD/CAPEX investment plans.
- Create and deliver presentations and white papers to key customers and stakeholders in support of shaping strategies and capture plans.
- Provide direct support to proposal development, including contributions to key elements of technical and management volumes and competitive pricing strategies.
- Brief senior leadership on new business performance metrics, resource expenditures/projections, investment needs, and pursuit execution status.
- Support MSP Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Long‑Range Planning (LRP) activities related to key pursuits, investments, and strategy.
- Work across a mixture of unclassified and classified pursuits.
- Collaborate with RTX Global Government Relations (GGR) on public policy and advocacy for new technologies.
- Travel:
Approximately 25 – 33 % domestic travel.
- University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 12 years’ experience in the space industry in technical or programmatic roles, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading business development pursuits, acquisitions, or program cross‑functional teams with values of at least $50 M.
- Demonstrated experience working for or with U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Space Systems Command, Space Development Agency, or National Reconnaissance Office.
- Experience developing and delivering white papers, proposal elements, and executive‑level briefings.
- Experience with U.S. Government acquisition and planning/programming processes and interface with U.S. Space Force and Intelligence Community customers.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued TS/SCI security clearance.
- Master’s degree or higher in an Engineering or Business discipline.
- Working knowledge of business development operations processes (e.g., investments, financial planning, pipeline management) and capture management.
- 15+ years of space industry experience in technical and/or programmatic roles, with at least 5+ years of business development, program management, capture, or acquisition experience on U.S. Government contracts with values of at least $200 M.
- Strong professional network across the U.S. Government and space industry, with connections to program offices, operators, and organization leadership.
- Prior experience developing space payloads, ground systems, or key space mission elements (e.g., spacecraft, subsystems, operations).
