Survivability Systems Engineer/Scientist (Lead or Senior)
Location:
El Segundo, CA. 100% onsite.
- Collaborate effectively with various technical disciplines in a team environment to balance factors such as survivability, cost, weight, and technical risk in the final design.
- Execute and oversee the analysis and testing of material, units, subsystem and system performance in simulated space environments.
- Include but not limited to radiation-related effects such as total dose (including ELDRS and dose rate effects), displacement damage, single event effects, internal ESD charging, micrometeoroid and orbital debris, on‑orbit contamination analysis.
- Plan and conduct testing at the piece part, slice, unit, and vehicle levels to support design and verify compliance with survivability‑related requirements.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). A security clearance active in the past 24 months is considered active.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a non‑U.S. equivalent qualification directly related to the work statement.
- 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with spacecraft design, analysis, fabrication and test.
- Experience with space environmental effects.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time.
- Senior, Level 5: 15+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master’s degree from an accredited program in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics.
- Experience with survivability‑related analysis and testing for space environments, radiation effects, device physics, multi‑physics simulations, and man‑made environments.
- Experience with survivability‑related analysis tools (e.g., Thermal Desktop, MATLAB, MATHCAD, ANSYS, COMSOL).
Successful candidates must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Lead (Level 4): $146,200 – $197,800;
Senior (Level 5): $176,800 – $239,200.
This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. The role requires a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62, which includes U.S. citizens, nationals, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.
