Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer (Experienced) – Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS). We develop small satellite systems focused on national security missions such as missile warning and Earth observation. The role involves driving the design and analysis of mechanical components for spacecraft, establishing processes, and mentoring mid‑career engineers.
Responsibilities- Set technical direction for the mechanical engineering group and broader organization.
- Create and maintain essential processes, tools, standards, and design guides to build a knowledge base.
- Support Responsible Engineering Authorities (REAs) to solve technical challenges, develop verification tests, and identify solutions.
- Provide technical guidance to programs during design reviews, customer meetings, failure reviews, and trade studies.
- Audit internal programs and external suppliers to identify best practices and improvement opportunities.
- Serve as a technical mentor for mid‑career mechanical engineers.
- 12+ years of experience in the design and analysis of aerospace hardware.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works) and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Experience with spacecraft environments and testing, including random, sine, acoustic vibration, and TVAC testing.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a first‑principles understanding of satellite subsystems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with composites, bonded joints, dampers, additive manufacturing, or shock mechanisms.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Active TS/SCI Clearance.
Position is 100% onsite at one of the listed locations. Must be a U.S. Person and eligible for a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Export control compliance is mandatory.
Benefits- Competitive base pay:
Level 5 – $146,200 to $215,000;
Level 6 – $178,500 to $262,500. - Variable compensation opportunities.
