Job SummaryAs an experienced Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage strong engineering fundamentals to solve challenging technical problems in collaboration with other engineers. You will review designs and test plans to validate planning, identify opportunities to reduce cost and risk, and create processes, standards, and engineering tools. You will also train others in their use, driving the development of emerging technologies for future mechanical designs at Millennium.
Responsibilities- Help set technical direction for the group and beyond
- Identify and create essential processes, tools, standards, and design guides
- Support Responsible Engineering Authorities (REAs) to solve technical challenges, develop verification tests, and identify solutions
- Provide technical guidance to programs as part of the technical lead engineering (TLE) group through design reviews, customer meetings, failure review and analysis, and trade study assessment
- Audit internal programs and external suppliers to identify industry best practices and opportunities for improvement
- Serve as a technical mentor for mid‑career mechanical engineers
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. The role also must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements; a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. must apply, which includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Minimum Qualifications- 12+ years of technical experience in design and analysis of aerospace hardware
- Adept with CAD software such as Solid Works or similar and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
- Experience with spacecraft environments and testing, including random, sine, acoustic vibration, and TVAC testing
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with knowledge of satellite hardware, qualification methods, and first‑principles understanding of all spacecraft sub‑systems
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which U.S. Citizenship is required; a final U.S. clearance Post‑Start is required
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with composites, bonded joints, dampers, additive manufacturing, shock, or mechanisms
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
Level 5: $146,200 - $215,000
Level 6: $178,500 - $262,500
