Job Summary
As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will design and develop consumer products from concept to production in a fast‑paced environment. The role requires close collaboration with Industrial Designers, Product Managers, Program Managers, and vendors to meet product goals and schedules.
Responsibilities- Participate in initial concept development, including brainstorming, sketching, complex 3D surface CAD modeling, and creation of electronic constraint drawings.
- Design injection‑molded, compression‑molded, insert‑molded or co‑molded plastic parts and assemblies using Creo
3.0 or higher. - Apply principles of DFM and DFA to product design.
- Develop detailed manufacturing packages (BOM, 3D CAD database, part drawings, assembly drawings) to enable effective design transfer.
- Manage Mechanical BOM and ECO through Windchill and Agile (PLM).
- Coordinate quotation, fabrication of prototype parts, tooling, testing, and verification of product requirements.
- Monitor and maintain product schedules, specifications, and budgets.
- Assist in generating product specifications.
- Fulfill responsibilities under ISO
9001 and 14001 and support the ISO system. - Fulfill responsibilities under OHSAS
18001 and support the OHSAS system. - Maintain a safe and clean work environment and follow company rules and regulations.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- BSME or MSME/MSIE preferred; 8years of experience in consumer product development (10years preferred).
- Extensive interaction with Industrial Designers, Electrical Engineers, and manufacturing teams.
- At least 4years of Creo experience, with willingness to train further.
- ISDX experience preferred.
- Passion for designing beautiful and functional products.
- Knowledge of waterproof and impact‑resistant product design a plus.
- Strong materials knowledge a plus.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, co‑molding, and rapid prototyping.
- Familiarity with decoration processes such as painting, metallization, laser etching, pad printing, etc.
- Competence in tolerance stack‑up and structural analysis.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and presentation skills.
- Multi‑country joint development experience, especially with Asia‑based manufacturing, is highly desired.
- Must be able to obtain foreign visas.
- Approximately 15‑20% travel is required.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to 10pounds in the office and up to 50pounds while traveling. Frequent computer use, keyboarding, and typing required. Travel may be by car, airplane, bus, or train.
Location & CompensationLocation:
ElSegundo, California. Salary range: $115,000–$136,000, plus performance‑based bonus and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
