Position Summary
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Guidance Navigation and Control Engineer (Lead) to join our GNC team. The role is located in Rancho Bernardo, CA or El Segundo, CA.
Essential Functions- Lead a team of GNC engineers at all levels in conducting in-depth analysis and control law development for programs in the initial phase.
- Conduct non‑linear 6
DOF simulation analysis, including stress testing, trade studies, and mission analysis. - Develop presentations and perform analysis for program management.
- Serve as technical spokesperson with program management, preparing and presenting technical briefings.
- Develop charts for design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.) and support proposal preparation and new project activities, including responsibility for technical aspects, cost, schedule, and reviews.
This position requires 100% on‑site work; no telework or hybrid schedule is allowed. Anticipated travel 20–25%.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM discipline with 12 years of relevant engineering experience; or Master’s degree with 10 years; or PhD with 8 years.
- Demonstrated experience leading a diverse team of GNC engineers on a development program.
- Proficiency with MATLAB, Simulink, and autocoding Simulink models.
- Proficiency in linear analysis (gain/phase margin determination, filter design, etc.).
- Active US Government Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.
- Current or previously‑held Special Program Access.
- Experience with NGAS Common Products Core VMS GNC modeling.
- Knowledge of C/C++, Java, or Python.
- Knowledge of flight sciences, control law development, and control system analysis.
Primary level salary range: $177,000 – $265,600. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and Long Term Incentives for senior roles.
