Job Overview
Millennium Space Systems (MSS), a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. The Avionics Manufacturing Engineer will develop, qualify, and implement manufacturing processes and procedures for avionics products and components across a variety of spacecraft subsystems, based in El Segundo, CA.
Position Responsibilities- Act as the connector between design engineering, manufacturing, and supplier organizations
- Develop manufacturing work instructions, standard operating procedures, Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOMs), and rework instructions for all manufacturing items within your ownership
- Review electromechanical assembly and PCBA designs for manufacturability and production scalability
- Identify improvement opportunities and execute projects to improve product quality, reduce lead time, decrease labor hours, and maintain safe operations
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and drive implementation of corrective actions for non‑conformances
- Work within cross‑functional teams—including design, quality engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain—to bring products from new product introduction (NPI) to full‑scale production
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 1+ year of experience applying production engineering principles to analyze and implement manufacturing processes and methods
- 1+ year of experience working with or interpreting engineering data or engineering drawings
- Experience assisting with analyses, root cause analysis, and drafting dispositions for non‑conformances
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or test engineering in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries
- Good understanding of IPC‑A‑600, IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑7711C/7721C and NASA‑STD‑8739.1
- Familiarity with IPC‑2221
- Thorough understanding of root cause analysis and related analytical methods (e.g., Five Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D)
- Understanding of engineering and project management principles
- Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software
- Background in Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement
- Experience in PCB/PCBA manufacturing
- Experience with Altium Designer
- IPC‑A‑600 & IPC‑A‑610 Certification
- Level 2: 1 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Elements of the Total Rewards package include competitive base pay and variable compensation opportunities.
Pay ranges:
Level 2: $90,950 – $123,050;
Level 3: $111,350 – $150,650.
- Position is 100 % onsite at El Segundo, CA
- Requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance (interim and/or final post‑start)
- Shift: 1st Shift
