JOB SUMMARY (Day to Day)

Development of statements of work for manufacturing of tools at suppliers across the US. Working closely with inhouse fabrication team to support tool manufacturing from a technical aspect.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

• Supplier Manufacturing Engineer creates statements of work, processes, procedures, and production layouts for the manufacturing of tooling assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
• Knowledge of composite manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Will work closely with tooling design team and in house fabrication group to translate complex tooling designs to instructions suppliers can bid and fabricate.
• Is responsible for tooling liaison support between Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling group.
• Will coordinate directly with suppliers to ensure all aspects of the build process are understood and responsible for supplier meeting quality, cost, and schedule.
• This individual must have knowledge of the manufacturing process as it relates to developing statements of work for complex tooling used in a production envelopment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process such as machining, welding, composites, GD&T, grinding, laser cutting, water jet, and shop aid building are needed. Knowledge of CAD software such as NX and Catia and laser inspection is preferred but not required.
• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
• Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
• Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
