Position
Sr. Principal Engineer – Space & Airborne Power & Digital Department, analog mechanism control designs.
Location:
El Segundo, CA. Role type:
Onsite. U.S. Citizenship required. No security clearance required.
- Lead or support digital and/or mechanism control designs for avionics systems.
- Enhance electrical engineering skills by working with digital and/or analog hardware testing and debugging complex circuit card assemblies or electro‑mechanical systems.
- Engage in hands‑on troubleshooting of circuit card assemblies.
- Support component‑level design and test reviews.
- Mentor and be mentored within the organization.
- Collaborate with Functional and Program higher‑level management.
- Engage with customers and suppliers.
- Travel as required (~25%).
- Guide teams through hardware systems lifecycle phases, including design, analysis, architecture of new electronic systems, development and documentation of subsystem requirements and test plans, peer reviews, presentations to management and government customers, and root‑cause failure investigations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics field (or equivalent experience) and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Eight years of experience in analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support.
- Experience in analog/digital sub‑systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, CCA design, test integration, and/or supplier management.
- Proficiency in digital design tools for CCA schematic capture, interconnect capture, and harness design.
- Previous technical leadership on a complex subsystem during Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) phases.
- Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related engineering disciplines.
- Strong systems‑engineering mindset with analytical skills.
- Highly self‑motivated, capable of performing multidisciplinary work.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting motors, EO/IR sensors, servo drive circuit cards, digital circuit cards, and configurable logic.
- Project leadership experience with systems engineering and architecture, and desire to grow to a higher level.
- Ability to network and influence outside the department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and manufacturing organizations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
- Proven experience balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success.
- Experience working with satellite or similar systems.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritization ability.
- Knowledge of mixed signal electronics.
- Practical experience in all phases of the product development lifecycle.

$118,300 – $224,900 USD.
