Mechanical Engineer, Test Engineer
Mechanical Engineer II to join the space mechanisms team supporting mechanisms development, integration and test across multiple space programs in El Segundo, CA.
What You Will Do- Perform mechanical component and mechanisms design on opto‑mechanical systems using Creo, and support assembly, integration and test activities in a lab environment.
- Perform research on tribology in mechanisms and application of kinematics in designing and analyzing mechanical assemblies.
- Work with a team of specialized junior and senior manufacturing and mechanical engineers to support the design, build and test of EO/IR space hardware.
- Help create and/or revise opto‑mechanical designs/drawings, generating assembly instructions and providing build support in conjunction with technicians and other engineering disciplines, as well as design for producibility and manufacturability.
- Present their work for peer reviews.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience in design and/or assembly, integration and test of flight hardware.
- Experience with commercial CAD software, such as Creo.
- Basic knowledge of motors, position feedback sensors, bearings, and gears.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in GD&T and Tolerance analysis for designs/drawings.
- Knowledge of DFMA principles and modern machining techniques.
- Prior experience in Defense or Aerospace.
- Understanding of Change Management, and processing Engineering Changes in a Product Data Management Tool.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Security clearance type: TS/SCI without Polygraph. Security clearance status:
Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.
- Salary range: 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD.
