Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Lead Test Systems Design Engineer to join our Special Test Equipment (STE) for the Space Electronics team located in El Segundo, CA
. The role involves designing space‑grade electronics—from power and digital subsystems to RF and mixed‑signal systems—and managing their full lifecycle to support cutting‑edge flight products.

Position Responsibilities
  • Lead the full lifecycle development of STE for power, digital, RF, and mixed‑signal systems: architecture, detailed circuit design, prototyping, integration, verification, and delivery.
  • Perform and review detailed circuit designs and prototypes for power supplies, MCUs, FPGAs, memory/logic, RF front‑ends, filters, amplifiers, and mixers.
  • Develop models and analysis to predict and validate system performance using SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, ADS, or equivalent tools.
  • Design, develop, and validate automated test software and data acquisition systems using LabVIEW, Test Stand, Python, C#, or equivalent.
  • Own program planning and execution: create and maintain schedules, define milestones, allocate resources, estimate hours and budgets, and manage change.
  • Provide regular, clear program status reporting to stakeholders: progress vs. plan, technical status, schedule and budget variance, risks, mitigations, and decision points.
  • Drive design reviews, design controls, configuration management, and verification/qualification test plans to meet space qualification requirements.
  • Troubleshoot anomalies during integration, environmental testing, and production; lead corrective actions and root‑cause analysis.
  • Define procurement needs and recommend test equipment purchases.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and technicians; assign tasks, review work, and foster a collaborative, accountable team culture.
  • Support proposal preparation and capture activities with technical scope, cost, schedule estimates, and risk analyses.
Basic Qualifications
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. top secret/SCI clearance after start is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • At least 9 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital, power or RF Test Systems.
  • Availability to travel up to 10% of the time domestically.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Software coding experience using LabVIEW, Test Stand, C/C#, Python, FPGA Verilog/VHDL, and/or MATLAB Signal.
  • Experience with EDA tools such as OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, Altium, or PSPICE for schematic capture, PCB design/layout, and circuit simulation.
  • Knowledge and experience in control, analog, digital, or power supply circuit design.
  • Experience designing RF/Mixed‑Signal circuits and systems, including signal integrity, noise, and interference considerations.
  • Experience with RF measurements: intermodulation distortion, phase noise, spurious measurements, and S‑parameter analysis.
  • Proficiency in RF/mixed‑signal simulation software such as Keysight’s ADS or similar.
  • Familiarity with RF/mixed‑signal test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and mixed‑signal oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of RF/mixed‑signal communication protocols used in space applications.
  • Experience designing power and digital circuits, including power supply units and logic circuits or microprocessors.
  • Familiarity with power/digital simulation software and tools such as PSpice, MATLAB Simulink, or similar.
  • Experience with power and digital test equipment such as digital multimeters, power analyzers, logic analyzers, and digital oscilloscopes.
  • Understanding of power systems and digital communication protocols used in space applications.
  • Experience with power and thermal analysis, predicting behavior under…
