Position Summary
Principal Mechanical Engineer – Radar Antenna Design II, ElSegundo, CA. The role involves designing and supporting electronics packaging for airborne radar subsystems, including antenna, receiver, exciter, processor, and power supply components, throughout the hardware life cycle.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support on major programs and collaborate with Lead Mechanical Engineers and Chief Engineers.
- Lead smaller project teams through design development, ensuring established procedures are followed and program design objectives are met.
- Develop unit design concepts from requirements and conduct design trades.
- Create technical solutions to complex problems.
- Prepare detailed layouts and design documentation using CAD tools.
- Support suppliers fabricating components and assemblies.
- Operate within the Engineering Change Release process and Product Data Management (PDM) system.
- Serve as a Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for a subsystem.
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or equivalent experience (minimum 7 years).
- Experience with ANSI drawing standards.
- Experience with GD&T.
- Experience with electronic packaging for airborne applications.
- Design experience in high‑frequency environments, enclosure design, EMI shielding, and thermal management.
- High proficiency with CREO or similar 3D solid modeling software.
- Proficiency in RF principles, RF circuit card design, RF materials, and manufacturing.
- Experience with antenna, receiver, exciter, or processor mechanical design.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes for CCAs, metal housings, brazements, or assembly support roles.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Prior experience in defense or aerospace.
- Active security clearance.
U.S. citizenship is required. A DoD Secret clearance (active and existing after day1) is required.
Salary Range$118,300 – $224,900 USD.
